Freight Lift Safety Inspection

Project Core Details

Client: Southern Garments Manufacturing Company Limited

Location: Jordan (Irbid, Jerash, Ajloun, and Aqaba Industrial Operations)

Project Scope: Comprehensive technical inspection of freight elevators and industrial lifting systems

Service Type: Independent Freight Elevator Inspection and Compliance Verification (Third-Party Inspection)

Project Overview

As part of supporting operational reliability and industrial safety within Jordan’s manufacturing sector, LEAN Engineering & Inspection successfully conducted a comprehensive engineering inspection programme for the freight elevator systems operating across Southern Garments Manufacturing Company Limited’s production facilities.

The project focused on evaluating the safety, reliability, and operational readiness of freight elevators that support daily manufacturing activities, material handling operations, and internal logistics throughout the production environment.

The Challenge & Importance

In high-volume garment manufacturing facilities, freight elevators play a vital role in maintaining uninterrupted production flow. These systems are heavily relied upon for:

  • Transporting raw materials, fabrics, and production supplies between manufacturing levels.
  • Moving finished products efficiently through various stages of production and packaging.
  • Supporting internal logistics operations that directly affect productivity and delivery schedules.
  • Handling repetitive industrial loads throughout extended operating hours.

The Risk

Any unexpected freight elevator failure can disrupt production activities, delay material movement, create bottlenecks within the manufacturing process, and increase operational costs. In busy industrial environments, equipment reliability is directly linked to productivity, worker safety, and business continuity.

For this reason, independent third-party inspection is essential to provide management with an objective assessment of system condition and identify potential risks before they impact production operations.

Our Solution & Scope of Work

Acting as an independent third-party inspection body, LEAN implemented a detailed engineering assessment programme that included:

Mechanical & Structural Integrity Assessment

Evaluating key mechanical and structural components exposed to continuous industrial loading to identify signs of wear, deterioration, misalignment, or conditions that could affect safe operation.

Safety & Protection System Verification

Assessing critical safety systems including braking systems, overload protection devices, emergency functions, control systems, and operational safeguards designed to protect personnel and equipment.

Electrical & Control System Assessment

Reviewing electrical installations, control panels, and operational control systems to identify visible defects, unsafe conditions, or factors that may affect system reliability and operational continuity.

Independent Engineering Reporting

Providing facility management and maintenance teams with comprehensive technical reports outlining asset condition, engineering observations, risk areas, and recommended corrective actions to support preventive maintenance planning and operational decision-making.

The Outcome

The project provided Southern Garments Manufacturing Company Limited with a clearer understanding of the condition, safety status, and operational performance of its freight elevator assets.

Through LEAN’s independent third-party inspection services, the company strengthened maintenance planning, improved visibility of operational risks, and enhanced confidence in the reliability of critical lifting systems supporting manufacturing operations.

The project also contributed to reducing the likelihood of unexpected disruptions, improving workplace safety, and supporting more efficient management of production-critical infrastructure.
