Food Plant Lift Inspection

Project Core Details

Client: Lacrima Food Industries

Location: Amman, Jordan

Project Scope: Comprehensive technical inspection of industrial elevators and factory lift systems

Service Type: Independent Industrial Lift Inspection and Compliance Verification (Third-Party Inspection)

Project Overview

As part of supporting operational safety and production continuity within Jordan’s food manufacturing sector, LEAN Engineering & Inspection successfully delivered an independent engineering inspection programme for the industrial lift systems operating at Lacrima Food Industries.

The project focused on evaluating the safety, reliability, and operational readiness of lift systems that support daily production activities, material movement, internal logistics, and manufacturing operations throughout the facility. Through this assignment, LEAN provided an impartial technical assessment designed to strengthen asset reliability, improve risk visibility, and support informed maintenance planning.

The Challenge & Importance

In food manufacturing facilities, industrial elevators and freight lifts play a critical role in maintaining smooth production flow and supply chain efficiency. These systems are heavily relied upon for:

  • Transporting raw materials, ingredients, and packaging materials between production areas.
  • Supporting the movement of finished products through processing, packaging, storage, and dispatch operations.
  • Facilitating internal logistics activities that directly affect production efficiency and delivery schedules.
  • Supporting maintenance teams and operational personnel throughout the facility.

The Risk

Any unexpected lift failure, unsafe condition, or reduction in operational reliability can disrupt material flow, delay production activities, increase maintenance pressure, and create avoidable safety risks within the manufacturing environment.

For food manufacturers, maintaining reliable lifting systems is essential not only for operational efficiency but also for ensuring uninterrupted production schedules and effective supply chain performance. This makes independent third-party inspection a valuable tool for identifying potential issues before they develop into significant operational problems.

Our Solution & Scope of Work

Acting as an independent ISO/IEC 17020 Type A inspection body, LEAN implemented a structured engineering assessment programme focused on safety, operational reliability, and asset condition verification.

Technical Asset Condition Assessment

Conducting a detailed inspection of the mechanical, electrical, and structural elements of the lift systems to evaluate their condition, reliability, and suitability for continued operation within a demanding food production environment.

Safety System Verification

Assessing critical safety systems including braking mechanisms, door protection systems, overload protection devices, emergency functions, control systems, and other safety-related components essential for safe industrial lift operation.

Risk-Based Engineering Assessment

Identifying, categorising, and prioritising technical observations according to their potential impact on safety, reliability, and operational performance, enabling management teams to focus on the most critical areas requiring attention.

Independent Technical Reporting

Providing plant management, maintenance teams, quality departments, and HSE personnel with clear, objective, and evidence-based inspection reports outlining asset condition, engineering observations, and recommended corrective actions to support maintenance planning and risk reduction.

The Outcome

The project provided Lacrima Food Industries with a clear and independent understanding of the condition and performance of its industrial lift systems.

Through LEAN’s third-party inspection services, the company achieved improved visibility of asset condition, stronger prioritisation of maintenance activities, and greater confidence in the reliability of lifting systems supporting critical manufacturing operations.

The inspection also contributed to reducing the likelihood of unexpected disruptions, supporting production continuity, and strengthening operational control within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment where material movement and production timing are closely interconnected.

Why This Project Matters

Food manufacturing facilities depend on reliable infrastructure to maintain safe, efficient, and uninterrupted production. Industrial elevators and freight lifts are essential components of this infrastructure, supporting continuous material movement and operational flow throughout the production cycle.

Independent inspection provides facility owners and management teams with an objective technical understanding of equipment condition, helping them make informed decisions regarding maintenance, safety improvements, and long-term asset management. This proactive approach supports safer operations, improved reliability, and reduced operational risk.

Why LEAN

As an independent ISO/IEC 17020 Type A inspection body, LEAN combines engineering expertise, impartial assessment, and practical reporting to deliver meaningful value for industrial clients.

Our role extends beyond identifying defects. We help organisations understand the operational significance of inspection findings, improve maintenance decision-making, strengthen safety performance, and enhance the reliability of critical infrastructure that supports daily production activities.

For food manufacturing facilities, this means safer operations, stronger operational resilience, and greater confidence in the systems that keep production moving.
